The Wihan Quartet, formed in 1985, are heirs to a great Czech musical tradition. The Quartet’s outstanding reputation for the interpretation of the many classical, romantic and modern masterpieces of the string quartet repertoire is widely acknowledged. As a chamber musician he has a long-standing relationship with the Wigmore Hall and this season sees him enjoy a further residency there. Indisputably, he is one of the leading clarinettists of his generation. Michael McHale (piano) has established himself as one of the leading Irish pianists of his generation. His interest in music began at the age of seven. Michael’s performing career encompasses solo recital, concerto and chamber music appearances. He enjoys playing both core and contemporary repertoire.

Richard Jenkinson (cello) studied with Florence Hooton, Raphael Wallfisch and William Pleeth. Chamber music has always been an important part of Richard’s musical make-up. Richard combines his commitments with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra with Solo and Chamber Music. In May 2012 he took over from the retiring Bernard Gregor-Smith as the cellist in the Dante String Quartet. Benjamin Frith (piano).
